Bruce Woods Patterson, MSW, LCSW is a New York City-based psychotherapist specializing in
EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and the energy psychologies.
He is an EMDRIA approved EMDR consultant and training facilitator for practitioners and groups.

first AIDS hotline for a decade at

in the Peter Jennings book, The Century.
He is a recipient of the Diego Lopez Award for
Outstanding Service to People with AIDS
given by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
Bruce was a founding member of the
EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program’s
Trauma Recovery Network
a collective of trauma specialists who mobilize in response to disasters, offering support and pro bono treatment.
As a volunteer trauma specialist, Bruce treated his fellow New Yorkers after September 11, 2001, Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and first responders in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
A graduate of the University of California,
Bruce received his master’s degree from
CUNY’s Hunter College in New York City,
a certificate in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis from
The Harlem Family Institute,
and a trainer certificate from the
Focusing Institute.
He has taught at Hunter and City Colleges at
The City University Of New York CUNY,
and is a faculty member at the
Parnell EMDR Institute.
Bruce teaches workshops on stress reduction, resiliency and energy psychology for mental health and medical professionals and the public.
